Support your Immune System

At home health tips to strengthen your immune system:

This is the time to eat well, drink plenty of hydrating fluids (water, herbal teas), get exercise, and do not sit and bathe yourself in electromagnetic waves all day. It is theorized that electromagnetic waves create oxidative stress (cell damage).

Add these anti-oxidant and nutrient-dense infection-fighting foods to your diet:

  • organic blueberries
  • raspberries
  • spinach
  • sprouts
  • garlic
  • onions
  • ginger
  • parsley
  •  cilantro
  • spirulina
  • celery juice
  • bone broth and fermented foods and beverages
  • Add apple cider vinegar to warm water or take a tsp in water before meals

You can easily grow sprouts at home if getting to the store is not a good option. Here is a good link on how to grow sprouts

This is not a good time to eat sugar or drink alcohol. Keep those out of your diet or at least at a minimum.

There are botanicals and supplements that can keep you healthy and possibly slow the spread of the virus if you contract it. I have some products in my office, and you can order directly from Standard Process using the information found on our contact page.

Andrographis and Vitamin C have shown promising effects as an antiviral. This is because of a family of enzymes called furins. These enzymes are normally used in our bodies to convert precursor proteins into active forms so they can be used in metabolic pathways. Certain pathogens, such as SARS-CoV-2, use the furin pathways to enter human cells. The envelope proteins of “SARS-CoV 2 must be cleaved by furin or furin-like proteases to become fully functional.” Furin enzymes are on nearly all cell surfaces which allows this virus to spread rapidly to many tissues and organs. This unleashes NLRP3 inflammasomes which can result in a disastrous inflammatory immune response (cytokine storm) that is responsible for the serious respiratory problems.

Andrographis and Vitamin C are furin inhibitors and are being considered for treatment of certain infectious diseases, including Covid-19. See more information here for Andrographis.

If you have Andrographis Complex, take one tablet per day for prevention. If you get sick, take 2 tabs 3-4x a day. I have this product and others at my office or you can order them from Standard Process using the information found on our contact page.

Echinacea is an excellent immune modulator and is a key part of staying healthy. Neither Echinacea, Androprahis, nor Elderberry flowers create a cytokine storm, just in case you read that bad information. The science is solid here.

We have learned from China in their treatment of Covid-19 that  Vitamin C intravenously has shown to be effective in treatment. If you are sick and can find someone to do intravenous Vit C, I highly recommend it. Prevention for a healthy person at this time is 5-8 grams of Vit C/day. If you are older or susceptible 10-18 grams of vit C/day is recommended. Depending on the type of Vit C you are taking, you may reach bowel tolerance. I have a few different options available for that will decrease that problem.

Melatonin has been shown to reduce the infectiousness of SARS-CoV-2, by reducing the inflammasomes and enhancing immunity.

Vitamin D is a necessary component of our immune system. I recommend staying in the high normal range at this point. This usually means taking 10,000 IU of vit D3 per day for now. Also get out into the sun 20 min per day!

Turmeric is useful for inflammation and cell repair.
You will also need extra nutrients to keep you healthy when fighting off pathogens. I have a variety of products to help with that.

This virus will be ongoing problem and people will need help to fully recover. This is where products as such Astragalus and Spleen Support will come into play. Please call me if you would like more information. I’m happy to consult with you on your individual health situation and help you develop an immune system protocol unique to you!
